At New Horizon Centre we strive to make a real difference to the lives of the young people in our care and it is very rewarding when this is acknowledged through the inspection process.
The following extract are summary's
from recent Ofsted Inspection reports:
Home A - It was found that staff in the home understood the importance of
ensuring that you are supported to keep fit and healthy, and help you to get
specialised health support if you need it.
Staff understand that you are independent and that you are helped to gain
confidence in using public transport and obtain skills which you will need
as you get older and become even more independent.I know that you are also
encouraged to get involved in various leisure activities.I looked at your
guide to the home which gives a lot of information and also saw the home's
anti-bullying booklet which was on display. This is a usefull booklet and
shows me one way in which staff help to keep you safe and happy.
Home B - The homes procedures for addressing absence without authority have
been developed in conjunction with the police. In addition to specific forms
which report absences, the home completes an incident form which gives the
opportunity to record a young person's comment.A Young Person is also
routinely given the opportunity for a key work sesion to discuss the
incident.
The homes statement of purpose describes what the home sets out to do for
the Young People it accomodates and the manner in which care is provided. It
is also noted that the provider has develped policy and procedures that
address the particular needs of the young people from minority ethnic groups
and practices to combat racism.
