New Horizon Centre operates its own independent school at recently acquired premises offering comprehensive facilities all set in a picturesque setting with extensive grounds.

Our school is registered with DfES and provides a specialist provision for vulnerable young people who are experiencing difficulties with their schooling. Our aim is to provide a safe environment where we can support change and growth and encourage success. We work with young people whose past experiences makes it difficult for them to function successfully in a standard school setting.

Admission Criteria
We aim to offer a place to every young person placed with New Horizon Centre. Our admission criteria can be expressed very succinctly:-
• No suitable local authority provision is available
• Clear targets are agreed by all supporting agencies before admission to school
We welcome visits from parents, carers and placing authorities – please contact the school to arrange.

Personal Study Programmes
A Personal Study Programme is designed for each pupil and can be adapted to meet developing needs, whether educational, social, behavioural or emotional. The development of the curriculum enables them to work in pairs and small groups.
The focus of our work is on growth, change and success by encouraging the development of self-esteem and confidence. Our ultimate aim is to enable each young person to take his or her place in society - whether it is to be in a mainstream school or college, supported work placement, or a further specialised setting.
A strong emphasis is placed upon accreditation for subject achievement and pupils are encouraged to work towards Unit Award Scheme, Entry Level Certificates, GCSEs, CLAIT and ASDAN awards.
